Camp life at Prude Ranch
The historic Prude Ranch is home base for the week. Established more than 125 years ago as a cattle ranch, it is not the Four Seasons, and that is exactly the point: bunk-to-bunk laughter, porch sunsets, and the darkest sky in Texas.
The ranch
Prude Ranch sits at 5,050 feet, six miles from Fort Davis. Buffet meals in the Old West dining hall, an open-air pavilion for yoga, a covered pool for laps and water aerobics, a gym for pickleball, and cabins with front-porch mountain views.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner served buffet-style. Old West decor, modern healthy fare, most dietary needs accommodated.
Pavilion
An open-air yoga space where you practice to the sounds of the ranch waking up.
Pool
Cool off after a long ride or run. Daily water aerobics, occasional water games.
Lodge
Evening programs on dark skies, the Chihuahuan Desert, and more, from visiting astronomers, conservationists, and biologists.
Gym
Home of the week-long double-elimination pickleball tournament, yoga classes, and the Friday night dance.
Cabins
Hillside, ranch, and bunkhouse options, plus RV and tent sites. Towels, linens, and maid service for cabin guests.

When is camp in 2026?
Camp runs from Sunday, August 23rd to Saturday, August 29th, 2026.
How many people attend?
The camp, including staff, typically hosts between 50 and 100 people.
How fit do I need to be?
Some aerobic fitness helps you enjoy the week. Cyclists should be able to ride 10 to 20 miles easily, the shortest runs are 2 to 3 miles, and hikers should handle inclines and an hour on rough footing. All paces are welcome.
What are the meals like?
Yummy and plentiful. All meals are served buffet-style in the Prude Ranch dining hall, and most dietary needs can be accommodated. Note them on your registration form.
When are my camp fees due?
A non-refundable $100 deposit is due when you register. After June 30, full payment is due at registration; otherwise final payment is due by July 31.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, free Wi-Fi covers the dining hall, lodge, and surrounding areas. Cell service is spotty in the mountains but strong in Fort Davis, minutes away.
Can I bring my dog?
No pets allowed at camp, including dogs.
Is there a dress code?
Camp is laid back and casual. Athletic wear all day, maybe something fresh for dinner, and cowboy boots for the final-night camper dance. Bring a light jacket for cool mountain evenings.
